Purpose: This webinar aims to help participants distinguish between Cultural Diversity and Cultural Sensitivity through multifocal lenses of organizational dynamics, care delivery, respectful curiosity, and self-awareness.

Objectives:  

  1. Build common language around cultural terms and explore cultural assessment tools
  2. Define 3-5 actions to enhance inclusion and community building within the organizational culture
  3. Incorporate community and faith-based outreach to build trust and improve care delivery

Target Audience: Primary care providers, nurse practitioners, palliative care specialists, pain specialists, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses with a specialty in palliative care/hospice, social workers, allied health professionals, fellows, residents, and medical students

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  1. Attendance at entire session
  2. Submission of completed evaluation form
  3. Successful completion of a posttest; 80% passing grade (mandatory to receive CE credit for social workers)

Physicians: This on-demand webinar, End-of-Life Care Through a Cultural Lens: Lessons Learned and Best-Practice Suggestions, with a beginning date of June 1, 2022, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 1.0 prescribed credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1.0 credit(s) toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: The MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Social Workers: MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0242.
