ON-DEMAND WEBINAR SERIES:
PAIN: ITS MULTIFACETED NATURE

Speaker
Speaker: Cristian Zanartu, MD
Palliative Care Physician

Purpose: The purpose of this webinar is to reflect on the nature of pain as a natural alarm and a starting point for recovery, and not only an ailment to be numbed.

Why Do I Need to Know This? The failure of the medical establishment in treating chronic pain urges us to reacquaint ourselves with the multifaceted nature of pain and address it holistically and humanely.

Objectives:

  1. Understand the biological, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, social and spiritual components of chronic pain
  2. Realize the essential failure behind the pure medicalization of chronic pain
  3. Realize the pivotal role that Palliative Medicine can play in the healing process of chronic pain, thanks to its multidisciplinary nature

Target Audience: Primary care providers, nurse practitioners, palliative care specialists, pain specialists, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses with a specialty in palliative care/hospice, social workers, allied health professionals, fellows, residents, and medical students

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  1. Attendance at entire session
  2. Submission of completed evaluation form
  3. Successful completion of a posttest; 80% passing grade (mandatory to receive CE credit for social workers)
