Purpose: The purpose of this webinar is to provide participants with an overview of the theory, research and best practices related to working with family caregivers in palliative care and hospice. Participants will leave the workshop with new tools for assessment, communication, education, and self-care to maximize effectiveness while maintaining professional and personal balance.

Objectives:

  1. Identify the theoretical basis underlying caregiving in palliative care
  2. Apply core social work clinical skills to work with family caregivers in palliative care
  3. Expand their repertoire of skills using evidence-based social work assessment and intervention practices
  4. Discuss the value of social work research and models of care in working with caregivers in palliative care
  5. Define strategies for self-care

Target Audience:  Social workers and healthcare coaches

Criteria for Successful Completion:

  1. Attendance at entire session
  2. Submission of completed evaluation form
  3. Successful completion of a posttest (80% passing grade)

Continuing Education Credits: 0.75
