Purpose: Are advance directives always helpful? This webinar will discuss ethical decision-making in the context of directive documents which may no longer apply.

Objectives:  

1. Describe findings in the literature on stability of patient preferences over time and health status
2. Identify ethical questions raised when the only advance directive documents available are either outdated or drafted under significantly different clinical circumstances
3. Interrogate the value of advance directive documents for ethical decision-making in such cases
