Purpose: The goal of this panel discussion is for clinicians to better understand the nuances of end of life and death affecting families from different cultures in their practice.
- Identify key approaches to use with patients and families when discussing planning for end of life with patients/families from three diverse faiths
- Examine cultural taboos and superstitions surrounding end-of-life/death discussion initiation and how best to address them sensitively
- Improve knowledge about death practices and bereavement needs of persons from three diverse faiths
Target Audience: Social workers and healthcare coaches,nurse practitioners, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and registered nurses with a specialty in palliative care/hospice
Criteria for Successful Completion:
- Attendance at entire session
- Submission of completed evaluation form
- Successful completion of a posttest (70% for nurses; 80% for social workers)
