Purpose: The purpose of this palliative care webinar is to expand knowledge of the management of COPD throughout the disease course.
- Implement strategies for effective management of dyspnea
- Develop approach for addressing goals of care in advanced lung disease
- Identify indicators of hospice eligibility in advanced lung disease
Why Do I Need to Know This?
Patients with COPD and other lung diseases frequently have a high level of symptom burden which significantly impacts quality of life. Ability to control disease-related symptoms, facilitate complex goals of care discussions, and identify supportive services in advancing disease are all essential to effectively managing these conditions.
Target Audience: Nursing administrators and managers, nurses, social workers, and healthcare coaches
Criteria for Successful Completion:
- Attendance at entire session
- Submission of completed evaluation form
- Social workers: successful completion of a posttest (80% passing grade)
Continuing Education Credits: 1.0

Nurses: MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by The Alabama State Nurses Association, an accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
