UPDATE ON ADJUVANT ANALGESICS IN ADVANCED ILLNESS

Purpose: The goal of this webinar is to improve the clinical practices of the palliative care specialist by enhancing the ability to administer adjuvant analgesics for chronic pain.

Why Do I Need to Know This? The effective use of adjuvant analgesics is considered a best practice in the management of specific types of chronic pain experienced by populations with advanced illness, particularly cancer populations. This webinar will present the evidence in support of the efficacy and safety of the various drug classes that comprise the adjuvant analgesics and offer practical guidelines for the use of these drugs.

Objectives:  

  1. Discuss the approach to opioid pharmacotherapy in patients with pain that may be treated with adjuvant analgesics
  2. Describe the selection and dosing of adjuvant analgesics for diverse types of chronic pain
  3. Identify best practices in the treatment of neuropathic pain and bone pain

Physicians: This live online webinar, Update on Adjuvant Analgesics in Advanced Illness, with a beginning date of June 15, 2023, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 1.0 prescribed credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1.0 credit(s) toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: The MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Northeast Multistate Division Education Unit, an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Social Workers: MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0242.
