Purpose: Family caregivers play a key role in patient-family centered care in hospice and palliative care. The Family Meeting is a valuable intervention for communication of medical information, delineation of goals of care, and decision-making within a supportive environment. This webinar will highlight best clinical and research practices and clinically challenging scenarios in working with family caregivers.
- Highlight current trends in family caregiving in hospice and palliative care
- Identify best practices related to the family meeting in hospice and palliative care
- Acquire core communication skills integral to the family meeting
- Recognize challenging clinical scenarios in the context of the family meeting
Target Audience: Nurse practitioners, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses with a specialty in palliative care/hospice, social workers, and healthcare coaches
Criteria for Successful Completion:
- Attendance at entire session
- Submission of completed evaluation form
- Successful completion of a posttest; 80% passing grade (mandatory to receive CE credit for social workers)
