Purpose: The purpose of this webinar is for healthcare professionals to better understand the Hospice Medicare Benefit in order to help terminally ill patients and their families access specialist level, interdisciplinary, palliative care to alleviate physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering in their later stages of life.
- Explain the Medicare LCD’s (local coverage determinations) to help in determining a 6-month or less prognosis for hospice eligibility
- Discuss the Hospice Interdisciplinary Core Services that patients and their families will receive in order to counsel patients and to make an appropriate referral
- Explain the different levels of care so that patients can maximize their hospice care, depending on their clinical situation
Target Audience: primary care providers, nurse practitioners, palliative care specialists, pain specialists, registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses with a specialty in palliative care/hospice, social workers, allied health professionals, fellows, residents, and medical students
Criteria for Successful Completion:
- Attendance at entire session
- Submission of completed evaluation form
- Successful completion of a posttest (70% for physicians, non-physicians, and nurses; 80% for social workers)
